Our Partners
Junior League of Boston
Boston Renaissance believes in giving our scholars the tools to exercise positive self-image and inner confidence, thus creating a foundation for future success. This is why we partner with the Junior League of Boston (JLB), an organization dedicated to helping young women explore their talents, find their voice, and practice wellness and self-care.
For over a decade, JLB has helped Boston Renaissance girls in grades 3-5 through Saturday workshops that teach art-related disciplines, emotional and physical wellness, nutrition, and much more.
BC BIGS, Boston College Big Brother Big Sister
Beginning in 2021, Boston Renaissance developed a partnership with BC Bigs, a program that matches Boston College students to serve as mentors to Renaissance scholars. The matches are carefully selected to cultivate positive relationships between “bigs” and “littles.” The program teaches our scholars six important values: caring, character, confidence, connection, competence, and curiosity.
Commonwealth Mobile Oral Health Services
As part of our whole-child approach, Boston Renaissance fosters an important partnership with Commonwealth Mobile Oral Health Services (CMOHS). Children who are free from pain and infection show improvement in their classroom studies and test scores thus advancing their ability to excel in school. Scholars receive full care including dental exams, cleanings, fluoride varnish, dental sealants, x-rays, and fillings as needed.
New England College of Optometry
As part of our whole-child approach, Boston Renaissance partners with the New England College of Optometry (NECO). NECO’s Vision Screening Program provides annual vision screenings for our scholars, which include comprehensive eye examinations and appropriate referrals when needed.
Home for Little Wanderers
The partnership with the Home for Little Wanderers (HFLW) is incredibly beneficial to the Boston Renaissance community as it provides school-based counseling services and support to a number of scholars and their families. The school’s Mental Health Team identifies students who could most benefit from HFLW clinical therapy services in the school setting and then consults with parents/guardians to refer students. Referred students may receive support to build skills in areas such as managing intense emotions, navigating relationship challenges, or strengthening their confidence and overall school performance.
Read to a Child
For over 13 years, Boston Renaissance’s partnership with Read to a Child has brought volunteer mentors from around the City of Boston into our school to read to scholars in grades 1-4 weekly during the school year. The program creates an important connection between the reading mentor and the child. This connection bolsters engagement and confidence that all children need to thrive.
Northeastern University Language Literacy Program
Since 2011, Northeastern University’s Language Literacy Program has partnered with Boston Renaissance teachers to supplement classroom learning and increase reading comprehension performance. Graduate students from Northeastern service both K1 and K2 scholars twice a week to build language skills through interactive reading and word/picture identification games. The program contributes to providing a well-rounded education where scholars can enjoy reading across multiple fun and nurturing environments.
Steppingstone Foundation
Since 2001, Boston Renaissance has partnered with the Steppingstone Foundation, an organization that provides free college-access programs to families who hope to send their children to college, but face obstacles. Steppingstone prepares, supports and advises our scholars and families during the 4th and 5th grade academic years and three summer semesters. Learn more and how to apply here.
Riverside Theater Works
Art is an important part of a Boston Renaissance education. Every scholar is able to apply for scholarship funding through Riverside Theater Works, an organization devoted to entertaining and bringing people from diverse backgrounds together. Riverside Theater Works offers a broad range of programs that help children become more confident and develop better life skills.
Riverside Theater Works has a scholarship program for students that live or attend school in Hyde Park.
Prove Them Wrong
The brainchild of BRCPS alum DeShawn Gibbons, Prove Them Wrong (PTW) teaches today’s youth as much about the game of life as the game of basketball. A former collegiate and professional basketball player, Gibbons started PTW 15 years ago and through the game that has given him so much, he has imparted that knowledge and then some to local youth.
The antithesis of what one envisions when it comes to a “typical” basketball trainer, DeShawn believes in a holistic approach to the development of athletes. Working with children and teens, his mantra is not just to forge great athletes but also to build great people. “I want to show kids that you can be bigger than your circumstances in life. With the right mentors, mentality, and the ability to dream beyond your imagination, amazing things can happen.”
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
Beginning in 2024, BRCPS has partnered with Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and specifically its Delta Omicron Zeta Chapter which has been selflessly serving the greater Boston community since 1942. Committed to academic excellence, leadership development and community service, the sorority has mentorship programs, reading and literacy events, school supply drives and educational workshops.
Zeta Phi Beta strives to create and deliver supportive and enriching programs for students, helping them achieve their full potential.
